MONUMENT
The Monument collection depicts colossal, cosmic events extending across time and space. Bold and powerful when viewed from a distance, each piece has an absorbing granular complexity when viewed up-close. Paying homage to film and cinematic processes, the project uses the characteristics of a camera lens to create and define the artistic form, and bokeh as the drawing primitive; a vibrant, light-based by-product of a photographic lens.
Monument represents Tsukamoto’s most technically complex generative collection to date. Eight layers of form composited with a set of visual effects including colour lookups, depth of field, lens-effects, film-grain and vignettes, all of which are parametrically controlled by the generative process.
Monument opened on July 11th 2024 in partnership with The Disruptive Gallery - It is a limited edition of 128 curated generative works.
The generative pipeline was developed using a number of programming languages, mostly Processing, C and GLSL.
High resolution outputs in various formats and aspects between 2k and 8k can be found in (centralised) storage here.
